CAMERA ROLL photo book (2015)
Today the majority of people have a smartphone with integrated camera. Therefore, you is able to take photos wherever and whenever you likes. This matter of fact does not only change the way we take photos but also the way we show them to others. Nobody is using the long-known photo albums anymore, but would rather carry around his personal photo archive every day – in shape of smartphone’s camera roll.
But looking at these photos differs highly from looking at photos in a classical photo album. You are never watching just the photo but also every activity of the operating smartphone. That means your view is bothered by appearing messages, battery warnings and blurred or reflective displays. The finger interaction with the multitouch surface is another interesting phenomenon: people automatically zoom, rotate or slide with their fingers across the display and do not recognize that these gestures disturb the sight.
I want to raise awareness for these disturbances and reproduced photos in a way we really watch them – including zooming fingers, appearing messages and scribblers. As a contrast, I put them back again into a classical photo album.
